Cafe Front-of-House
We are looking for a reliable and passionate person to join our hard-working café team.
The purpose of this role is to ensure the delivery of exceptional customer service and high-quality product.
The White Island Café is operated by Ngāti Awa Tourism Ltd, a subsidiary of Ngāti Awa Group Holdings Limited (NAGHL), the commercial arm of Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Awa, whose long-term vision is to create prosperity and sustainable employment for Ngāti Awa members and the wider Whakatāne region.
The café sits alongside White Island Rendezvous, a 39-room motel, and our marine based tours.
Key attributes and skills of the successful applicant:
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to deliver a great experience to our manuhiri (visitors).
• Experience working in a front of house position in a café or restaurant is preferred, however full training will be provided to the right person – attitude is everything!
• Barista skills would be a major advantage
• Will embrace the principles of manaakitanga, kaitiakitanga and Ngāti Awatanga
• Effective and productive team member.
• Ability to work on a rotating roster that includes early mornings, weekends, and public holidays.
• A positive, mature and flexible approach to work with a ‘can do‘ attitude.
• Self-motivated and able to demonstrate initiative and responsibility when working unsupervised.
• A full or restricted driver’s licence is required
This is a permanent part-time position with a minimum of 56 hours per fortnight (we are open to increasing this and will discuss with applicants during the interview stage). This position pays $22.75 per hour.

Senior Cafe Front-of-House / Barista
We are looking for an experienced Barista to join our team and work alongside the Cafe FOH Manager in a 2IC position. This role would suit someone that either has some leadership experience under their belt or is looking to make a step up.
You will help ensure the team delivers exceptional customer service and high-quality product at all times.

• You must have top notch barista skills.

• Effective and productive team member.
• Ability to work on a rotating roster that includes early mornings, weekends, and public holidays.
• A positive, mature and flexible approach to work with a ‘can do‘ attitude.
• Self-motivated and able to demonstrate initiative and responsibility.
• A full or restricted driver’s licence is required
